On May 19, 2020, American Airlines quietly decommissioned legacy award search tool. Previously, it was possible to access legacy award search tool by clicking ‘Advanced / Multi-city search’ on the main homepage.

However, even searching through that page, search results only show up in new award search tool.

This is not a great news for people who are looking for partner award availability because in new award search tools, some of the partner availability is not shown clearly or pushed to the back, if there’s an option for American Airlines flight.
Good news is that it is still possible to use the legacy award search tool by selecting ‘Multi city’. If you are searching for one-way, you can put dummy segment for the second flight.

Thankfully, legacy award search tool is still showing up (partner flight is showing up clearly as well!).

Conclusion
It is quite disappointing that American Airlines is gradually phasing legacy award search tool. While it is possible to book premium economy award via new award search tool, it is difficult to see partner award availability. I hope that this workaround stays alive for some time!
